YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — First-year Head Football Coach Chris Creighton came into Eastern Michigan University with the goal to "close the gap," and has been doing so in his first 100 days coaching the Eagles. Creighton, along with the rest of his staff, has already set high standards for the Green and White going into the 2014 campaign.
Eastern Michigan University's new football coach says he's excited to be here and passionate to work with the players.
Chris Creighton was introduced to the EMU community at a press conference Thursday that included a pep talk by the new coach. Creighton says his goal at EMU is to win a MAC championship as soon as possible, but also to make sure they are getting everything out of the program's potential, adding that he will work his offense around what the players are most capable of doing, but wants to have a balanced attack.
Eastern Michigan University has held a second community forum to discuss the death of wide receiver Demarius Reed and other violence against Eastern students.
The Demarius Reed homicide, three other attacks of Eastern Michigan University students off campus, and two reports of on-campus criminal sexual conduct with individuals that knew each other all in the last week led E-M-U and Ypsilanti officials to holding a community forum to talk about efforts to improve safety. E-M-U and Ypsilanti officials met to talk about safety and then were on hand for the community forum.
