Washtenaw County State Lawmakers Say Projected Revenue Declines Another Concern About Roads Plan

Michigan lawmakers will likely have less money than earlier projected to put into next year's budget.  The revenue estimating conference takes place Thursday, but the House Fiscal Agency is anticipating $873 million dollars less in state revenues for this year and next compared to the January conference.  

89.1 WEMU's Andrew Cluley reports on projected declines in state revenues and concerns local lawmakers have on plans to use the general fund to pay for road repairs.

Scio Township Residents Learning More About Possible Oil Exploration In Their Community

Several hundred people learned more about oil exploration and mineral rights leases at Scio Township Thursday night.  Township officials held an informational meeting at the Washtenaw Intermediate School District facility on Wagner with a variety of experts because West Bay Exploration has leases to explore about one-thousand acres in the township.

Jeff Daniels urges responsibility at Chelsea meeting

Signs along Main Street in Chelsea are urging Lyndon Township officials to reject the proposed sand and gravel operations. Up to 160 gravel haulers a day could pass these locations.

Lyndon Township’s planning commission isn’t expected to make a decision on a special land use permit for a sand and gravel mining operation until this summer.  About 30 people spoke out against the proposal as a public hearing wrapped up Thursday night.
