Some good news for those who regularly park in downtown Ann Arbor. Parking rates are going to hold steady, for the time being. WEMU's Andrew Cluley attended last night's Ann Arbor City Council working session. At that meeting, the Downtown Development Authority gave its annual update on the city's parking system.
Construction of the structure will add 530 parking spaces to the university's parking system near the medical campus. The project will provide the Wall Street area and medical center campus with environmentally-sustainable features. Plans include trees and gardens for storm water management which may also be used for irrigation and reducing storm runoff to the river.
In about a year, there will be about 530 more parking spaces in Ann Arbor. As WEMU's Andrew Cluley reports, construction will soon get underway ont he University of Michigan's new parking structure between Maiden Lane and Wall Street.
Ann Arbor city council member Mike Anglin says he still wants to create a citizens committee to proposed uses for city-owned parking structures in the downtown area. Hear more from WEMU's Andrew Cluley.
