Winter Art Tour

On this week’s "Art & Soul," 89.1 WEMU’s Lisa Barry talks to Omari Rush, the executive director of CultureSource, and Cara Rosaen, the lead organizer of the Winter Art Tour, which is happening the weekend of December 8-10 in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.

Dick Gaskill

Dick Gaskill has been taking pictures of the University of Michigan football team and marching band since 1953 when he was a student and worked for the Michigan Daily.  He has only missed one home game in Ann Arbor in 62 years.

He talks about his many memories and photography experiences with 89.1 WEMU’S Lisa Barry.

As schools and the education system continue to evolve, what’s being taught in the classroom has come a long way from just reading, writing and arithmetic.

We visited a local high school where students can make use of “The Learning Studio,” where an Ypsilanti photographer is combining community experience with public education, creating new opportunities for students.

Words can hurt... so an Ypsilanti couple is holding a "social art happening" on Friday to put a face with the pain.

I spoke with Nick and Yen Azzaro, who are organizing "Sticks and Stones," a public art piece at the intersection of Washington and Ferris Streets in Ypsilanti Friday evening.

How does art make you feel?  Does it soothe you?  Does it challenge you?  Maybe both?  I spoke with photographer Harvey Droulliard about his art style, which is taking photographs of nude people in public places.
