There are some great movies  opening up this week! In this week's installment of Cinema Chat, WEMU's David Fair and Michigan Theater Director Russ Collins look into those. The conversation first covers some news out of Hollywood and Ann Arbor. Cinema Chat is a regular feature heard each Thursday during Morning Edition on 89.1 WEMU.

Every Thursday is movie day on WEMU's Morning Edition. David Fair is typically joined by Michigan Theater Executive Director Russ Collins for the weekly feature, Cinema Chat. Russ is away this week, so instead, David spoke with Michigan Theater Program Director Amanda Bynum! 

David and Amanda cover a lot of ground, including a movie shooting on the Eastern Michigan University Campus, the political ramifications of screening movies in the White House, and of course, discussion of the movies available to you over the coming weekend.  You can listen to the entire conversation below.

Michigan Theater Executive Director Russ Collins paid his weekly visit with David Fair for this week's installment of Cinema Chat, and began the conversation discussing the return of one of the University of Michigan's most successful exports to Hollywood.

The 2nd annual Cinetopia Film Festival kicked off in Ann Arbor Thursday night and will run right through the weekend. With so much to cover, a second installment of Cinema Chat this week seemed appropriate and needed! In this bonus edition, WEMU's David Fair is joined by Michigan Theater Executive Director Russ Collins and Michigan Theater Program Director Amanda Bynum. Additionally, there is a special appearance by Richmond Arquette! Richmond is the co-star of the film, "This is Martin Bonner."  The film will be shown twice at Cinetopia, the first of which is 9:30 tonight.

It’s Here!  Cinetopia 2013

45 films (including two free films at a Rooftop Theater on top of the Maynard Street Parking Structure) will be shown.  Over 30 filmmakers are in town – directors, cinematographers, producers and stars. And Cinetopia will take place in both Ann Arbor and Detroit.
