The opioid epidemic is nationwide and increasing in severity.  That includes Washtenaw County and the state of Michigan.  Washtenaw County Sheriff Jerry Clayton, Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, and Republican Representative Tim Walberg will host a community awareness forum on the issue in Saline tonight.

A Women’s Issues Town Hall is taking place in Scio Township Wednesday to help address the many needs of women and families.  It’s part of an ongoing listening tour gathering feedback from area residents by several elected officials.

State Senator Rebekah Warren, State Representative Donna Lasinski, and Congresswoman Debbie Dingell will be among those participating in the “listening tour town hall.”

Town hall conversations are taking place in Washtenaw County this week to give citizens a chance to interact with their elected officials.

To help improve its relationship with the public, the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office held its fourth community education series at Washtenaw Community College.

On July 21st, WEMU partnered with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office and 12th District congressional representative Debbie Dingell for a public conversation on the relationship between law enforcement and the area's minority community. With over 500-people in attendance, not all questions were answered, but the panelists agreed to answer those in writing. 

About 100 climate experts and users of climate change information will gather at the University of Michigan on Tuesday for  regional town hall on climate change.  Hear more from WEMU's Andrew Cluley.
