Veterans Day

We're a day away from the November elections, and there are but hours left to access an absentee ballot.  WEMU's David Fair and Mary Morgan of the CivCity Initiative have the details about where you need to go today.  Additionally, they cover a number of civic engagement opportunities in this week's edition of "Civic Matters."

Veterans for Peace Chapter 93 Tuesday held its annual Arlington Michigan ceremony and display at Veterans Memorial Park in Ann Arbor.

226 white crosses were erected, each representing a Michigan military member who was killed in Iraq or Afghanistan.

On each cross:  a small photo, along with information about the service member and details about how and where they were killed.

Vietnam vet Mike Muha is a member of Veterans for Peace Chapter 93.  He says the display reminds us of the cost of war.

Tuesday is Veterans Day, a day to reflect on the sacrifices members of our armed forces have made to maintain our freedoms.  It's also a day to remember members of the military from Michigan who've died in the Iraq and Afghan wars.
