AATA Looks to DDA to Fund Service Expansion

The Ann Arbor Transportation Authority has stepped up several services linking downtown Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.  Much of the service increase was in preparation for a county-wide transit authority.  Now, with the county-wide plan stopped, the AATA is looking to expand its partnership with Ann Arbor's Downtown Development Authority.   Hear more from WEMU's Andrew Cluley.

Light Rail or Trolleys Preferred for A2 Connector

The Ann Arbor Connector project is focused on determining new transit options for a boomerang-shaped area that extends from northeast Ann Arbor, down through the area along Fuller Road where the city is planning a new train and bus station near the U-M medical complex, through Central Campus and downtown, and then south along State Street to Briarwood Mall and I-94.

The Ann Arbor Transportation Authority says it received good community input last month on a possible connector service running from Plymouth Road and US-23 through downtown and out to State Street and I-94.  Hear more from WEMU's Andrew Cluley.

Greenbelt Growing Around Ann Arbor

The Greenbelt program is an innovative land preservation program that has protected almost 2,000 acres of farmland and open space surrounding the City of Ann Arbor, and has leveraged over $12 million through grants, landowner donations, and other locally funded programs.

Ann Arbor Saving Money Through County Dispatch Services

Metro-Dispatch provides police dispatching services for the Sheriff's Office, Ann Arbor Police Department, Huron Area Metro Parks Police, Michigan State Police, Northfield Township Police and the Ypsilanti Police Department, while providing non-emergency and emergency 911 services to the citizens of Washtenaw County. On average, Metro Dispatch handles in excess of 1000 emergency and non-emergency calls every day.

Aguanko's "Elemental" Tops "Sweet Sixteen"

It is no surprise that "Elemental" the new CD by conguero/composer Alberto Nacif and his magnificent ensemble "Aguanko" topped WEMU's "Sweet Sixteen" from January 7th through the 13th.   We will always support great regional talent along with international music figures, but Alberto Nacif means more to WEMU than just great regional talent:  he is family.  Today's "Cuban Fantasy" program on Saturdays at 7PM grew out of an interview that Alberto did with evening jazz host Michael G.
