Aedes de Venustas opened its NYC Fragrance boutique in 1995. Its entrepreneurial beginnings predate a revolution in perfumery--the unmasking of perfumers' identities and the rise of luxury niche perfumes. Aedes de Venustas continues to be an arbiter of taste. They offer a well-curated selection of perfumes in-store and online, but their own brand of fragrances proves that co-owners Karl Braidl and Robert Gerstner don't follow trends--they make them. Aedes de Venustas has produced seven perfumes to date, and are getting ready to release their eighth perfume in Spring 2017. Smell & Tell attendees will get a chance to smell the new perfume in addition to all seven Aedes de Venustas fragrances: Aedes de Venustas Signature (2012), Iris Nazarena (2013) Oeillet Bengale (2014), Copal Azur (2014), Palissandre d'Or (2015), Cierge de Lune (2016) and Grenadille d'Afrique (2016). Aedes has provided samples and a few giveaways so Smell & Tell attendees can indulge in their own Aedes de Venustas perfume experience after the event. The Smell & Tell series of lectures is led by Michelle Krell Kydd, a trained nose in flavors and fragrance who shares her passion for gastronomy and the perfume arts on Glass Petal Smoke. The series debuted at the Ann Arbor District Library in 2012 and is ongoing.
