Cinema Chat: Cinetopia Film Festival Special Edition

The 2nd annual Cinetopia Film Festival kicked off in Ann Arbor Thursday night and will run right through the weekend. With so much to cover, a second installment of Cinema Chat this week seemed appropriate and needed! In this bonus edition, WEMU's David Fair is joined by Michigan Theater Executive Director Russ Collins and Michigan Theater Program Director Amanda Bynum. Additionally, there is a special appearance by Richmond Arquette! Richmond is the co-star of the film, "This is Martin Bonner." The film will be shown twice at Cinetopia, the first of which is 9:30 tonight.

West Side of Ann Arbor Hit With Power Outage

It may take until late afternoon for DTE energy to restore power to roughly 800 customers on the west side of Ann Arbor. The estimated time of restoration is 4pm this afternoon. That outage forced closure of Abbott Elementary School this morning. Additionally, A downed tree is blocking traffic at Dexter Road and Ironwood Drive. The roads are closed at that intersection until further notice. Detour signs are posted. An isolated power outage in Ypsilanti this morning forced closure of Ypsilanti Middle School.

A light ballot in Washtenaw County on Tuesday day means relatively quick results. The results, keep in mind, are unofficial until certified by the Board of Canvassers.

Voters in Dexter Village have opted to continue moving forward with the process of becoming a city. The measure passed on a vote of 460-to-408. The next step will be the election of a nine-member charter commission. Once a draft charter is adopted and passed by the state, incorporation into city-hood will go before a vote of the people.
