Ypsilanti, MI – This is colon cancer awareness month in the U-S. Before the end of this year, more than 150-thousand people will be diagnosed with the disease. Vicki Rakowski is the Executive Vice-President for the American Cancer Society's Great Lakes Division. She joins WEMU's David Fair to discuss how colon cancer can be detected, and death prevented. Ypsilanti, MI – Washtenaw County Sheriff's deputies are looking for the mother of an infant found dead near an Ypsilanti Township motel Monday night. Police say the manager of the Manor Motel on East Michigan Avenue found the infant on the ground behind the motel. Deputies say the body may have been there for several days. Officers are checking motel records and neighboring residences for leads. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Sheriff's tipline at 734-973-7711, or 1-800-SPEAK UP.
