More young people in Southeast Michigan will continue to have opportunities to make art thanks to several people attempting to eat 20 foot long brats.  Ypsilanti’s Wurst Bar is hosting the first ever Wurst Challenge Thursday evening as a fundraiser for the Fly Children’s Art Center.

The challenge will include Ypsilanti Mayor Paul Schreiber and Eastern Michigan University President Susan Martin who’s bringing a team of brat eating advisors.  The event is also being hosted by New Holland Brewing Company, VG Kids, and MarkMaynard.com.

The challenge will include meat and tofu brats.  The event has already raised about $4,000 for the Fly Children’s Art Center as people donate for the participant they believe will eat the most sausage.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
