Ann Arbor Public Schools students are back in school starting today.

With new bell schedules to adjust to, students will now start school between 7:45 AM and 8:53 AM.

Linda Carter, President of the teachers union, visited several schools and met a family who enrolled their child just hours after moving from Jordan.  Carter says the Ann Arbor Public School's excellent reputation was the reason:

"It was very clear to me that now our Ann Arbor Public School has a worldwide, great reputation," Carter told WEMU news.

The district's new school bus system is now in full force with 96 routes in spite of an issue with finding enough school bus drivers in the past years. Over 5,000 students currently use bus service in the district.

Among the changes this year: the new bell schedules has elementary students now being released from school at 3:49 pm.
