Achievement Gap Starting to Close

By Andrew Cluley

Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor School District officials are celebrating reductions in the achievement gap for African American, economically disadvanted, and special education students in most MEAP test results.
Deputy Superintendent for Instruction Geraldine Middleton says several efforts led to the higher scores for minority groups, but she says work still needs to be done, particularly in writing skills.
Achievement gap reductions over the last three years came as overall MEAP scores increased.
