Administrative Cuts Likely

By Andrew Cluley

Ypsilanti, MI – Ypsilanti schools superientendent David Zuhlke says some form of a reorganization with a reduction in administrators is likely as the district prepares next year's budget.
However, the school board withdrew a motion last night that would have notified administrators, contracted service personnel, and directors if their contracts would not be extended past the end of June.
The motion was withdrawn after the district's attorney advised the board that the notice was not required if contracts are not renewed due to fiscal concerns.
Earlier this month, the board voted to eliminate the director of operations and labor relations position when the current director retires at the end of June.
