Nearly 1,000 artists have come to Ann Arbor to sell their work in this year's Art Fair. About a half million visitors are expected at the 30 block event that is made up of 4 separate art fairs.
Maureen Riley is the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair: the Original's director. Riley thinks art fair week plays an important role in what makes Ann Arbor a special place to live and visit. She says it's one of the events that makes Ann Arbor seem larger than it really is, and is one of the reasons the city is an art mecca.
Riley says the art fair brings an economic impact to the city with a half million visitors and artists who stay in area hotels for about a week. The art fair runs from 10 AM to 9 PM Wednesday through Friday and 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturday. The Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority will run shuttles between Briarwood Mall and Pioneer High School to the art fair.
