Ann Arbor DDA Pushes Ypsilanti To Ann Arbor Express Route

facebook/theride

The Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority thinks an express bus route between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor would be a great idea.  The DDA is working to have the route included in the Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority's five-year plan.

DDA Executive Director Susan Pollay says the highest bus ridership for downtown workers currently is on the number four route along Washtenaw Avenue, and the number five route along Packard Road.

"There are successful express bus routes right now between Chelsea and Ann Arbor and Canton and Ann Arbor," Pollay says, "and we're excited looking at the demand that already exists between Ypsi and Ann Arbor to see if we can offer another option."

AAATA tells MLive dot com that its ability to expand services is limited until new busses are delivered in 2016.

Pollay says AAATA has plans for an express route between Belleville and Ann Arbor, and she'd like to see the connection between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor developed first.
