Ann Arbor's planning commission will meet tonight and they will discuss a zoning change that could create more housing in the city.
A city code could change in order for accessory dwelling units to be constructed in Ann Arbor. They would be allowed in basements, attics, or even detached garages and carriage houses. As of now, they would not be used as tiny houses.
Tom Crawford is the interim city administrator.
"That would allow a lower rent price to be available, and, so, yes, it could have some opportunity to help with affordable housing."
The size of the unit would depend on how big your home is, but it could not exceed 800 square feet.
