Daylight Saving Time ends early Sunday morning, otherwise known as "falling back" where we gain an hour.

Ann Arbor State representative Jeff Irwin had introduced a bill to eliminate what he calls our "bi- annual clock setting dance" but it has so far been stalled in committee.

But he says we need more discussion as to why we keep changing times and spoke me.

Representative Irwin says we should pick a good time scheme and stick with it year around.  He cited research that says it causes problems for people and doesn’t provide benefits.

Created initially to save energy, it’s not working for that purpose anymore.  In the days leading to and following the clock switch people become tired, there are more car accidents, and even risk of heart attacks increase.

He is now thinking of a new idea to switch Michigan to the Central time zone and stay with it all year.  That would allow for an extra hour of daylight in the summer for outdoor activities.
