Art & Soul - The Performing Arts: New Play Opening At Purple Rose Theatre

David MacGregor

This week, Art and Soul is about the performing arts activities in Washtenaw County.  Local writer and reviewer Jenn McKee joins 89.1 WEMU's Lisa Barry and special guest playwright David MacGregor to talk about his new play opening soon at Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea.

This will be MacGregor's 7th play premiering at the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea.

As a fan of Sherlock Holmes since he was a kid, MacGregor says he may have taken some liberties in some of the facts in writing to make it entertaining.

"Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Elusive Ear."  Set in London in December 1888, the story centers around the notorious and as-yet undiscovered genius Vincent van Gogh, who presents the master-sleuth Sherlock Holmes with a most unusual case.  Aided by his partner Dr. Watson and his paramour Irene Adler, Holmes embarks on a rousing adventure.  Join the world’s greatest detective as he solves one of the most audacious crimes of the Victorian era.
