Infrastructure upgrades, the Allen Creek Greenway project, and accessory dwelling units to be included in the next fiscal year.
While Ann Arbor's fiscal year hasn't ended, City Council has already started to identify several key budget initiatives for next year.
Council has identified several areas it hopes to focus its work on in the upcoming year. Among these budget proposals, Council has listed infrastructure upgrades, the Allen Creek Greenway project, and a policy on accessory dwelling units. Council member Chuck Warpehoski asserts that city streets will also be getting attention.
"We've got a lot of road projects coming up for the next year, so we're going to have orange-barrel fever. So we're making progress there, but we definitely have a long way to go there, too," Warpehoski said when asked about the upcoming road work.
Unlike in many recent years, City Administrator, Steve Powers, doesn't foresee any major budget reductions. Ann Arbor mayor, Christopher Taylor, is hopeful that some services can even be added where the budget can sustain them.
