After an on and off seat on the Washtenaw County commission, former 9th district Commissioner Conan Smith is back on the County board.
He resigned from his county commission seat last August in order to apply for a job with the county as community and economic development director.
After questions were raised about his pursuit of that position, he dropped out of the race, but, during all of this, remained a candidate for his "former" seat on the county commission. Despite several write-in opponents, Smith still won re-election to his original county commission seat.
