Cool Cities Grant to help Michigan Theater

By Andrew Cluley

Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor's historic Michigan Theater will be a state and national leader in presenting and promoting microcinema, thanks to a "cool cities" grant.
Governor Jennifer Granholm announced the 100-thousand dollar grant on Monday.
Michigan Theater Executive Director Russ Collins says the improvements for microcinema, or digital film making, will prepare the theater for the future.
In addition to a digital video projection system, the grant will also allow for the creation of three microcinema lounges.
Collins says the theater will spend the next four to five months planning the improvements, which should be in place by the middle of next year.
