Council Seeks Options for Affordable Housing

By Andrew Cluley

Ann Arbor, MI – A month ago, Ann Arbor's city council killed a plan to redevelop Ann Arbor's Y-M-C-A that would have included low-income housing. Now, council is asking the city's housing and human services advisory board to recommend the best options for buidling affordable housing.
Council member Leigh Greden says the request re-affirms council's committment to low-income individuals.
Council is asking for a report from the advisory board by the end of May.
The board is supposed to consider if the housing should be in one location, multiple locations, or on the "Y" site, and is to recommend requirements and sources of funding.
