Another interim president for has been announced at Eastern Michigan University. The schools Board of Regents this morning voted unanimously to name Donald Loppnow to the post, effective  January 8th, 2016.  He'll replace current interim president Kim Schatzelwho is leaving EMU to become President of Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland. Schatzel  became interim president July 8th of this year upon the departure of former President Susan Martin.

Loppnow is no stranger to EMU or the post of interim president. Loppnow worked at the school for 40-years. During his tenure he served as professor and provost. In the 2007-2008 academic year, Loppnow also served as interim president at EMU, following the dismissal of president John Fallon and prior to the appointment of Dr. Martin.

Loppnow has been retired from EMU since 2014 and says he has no interest in seeking the presidency on a permanent basis. The national search for a new university president continues and Loppnow will continue to serve on the search committee.
