Eastern Michigan University Announces New Interim Provost

Eastern Michigan University

Eastern Michigan University has a new interim provost.

Dr. Rhonda Longworth has been appointed to the Provost position at Eastern Michigan University on an interim basis.  She'll officially assume those duties January 8th and will be interim provost until someone is hired for the position on a permanent basis.

Dr. Longworth has worked at EMU for 21 years and, since 2011, has served as Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Academic Programming and Services.  She is taking over  a position formerly held by Kim Schatzel. Schatzel was elevated to interim university President in July following the departure of former President, Dr. Susan Martin.

The EMU Board of Regents continues its search for a new, permanent repalcement for Dr. Martin. Schatzel, this month, announced her intentions to leave EMU next year to become President of Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland.
