To promote diversity and inclusion, Eastern Michigan University is installing new lightpost banners with a specific message on campus and around the City of Ypsilanti.
The 108 banners feature international EMU students from over forty nations. It's part of a campaign called "You Are Welcome Here."
Walter Kraft is Vice-President of Communications at Eastern and says this is a way to celebrate their international students.
"I don't think that when most people think about Eastern Michigan externally understand that we have nearly 1,000 international students on campus any given time, representing more than 80 countries. So this is an important part of our campus community, important part of Eastern's diversity."
Flags from different countries will also be featured on the banners.
