Edmonds Declares Victory In Ypsilanti Mayor Race

Amanda Edmonds has given a victory speech to supporters at the Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery.

The founder and Executive Director of Growing Hope is leading write-in challenger Steven Taylor by a wide margin in early un-official results.

Edmonds says she told supporters she's looking forward to moving Ypsilanti forward.

"And being that ambassador," Edmonds says. "In some ways in the last few months I've started playing that role, as well.  Helping to recruit businesses to the community and doing the things that grow the revenue pie.  That's what the Mayor and ambassador can help do.  Change the reputation and change the conversation about our community."

Edmonds says the first order of business for city council will be to appoint someone to fill the two years left on Susan Moeller's term.

Moeller resigned from city council to spend more time with elderly and ailing family members.

Edmonds defeated write-in candidate and licensed private investigator Steven Taylor, who said he was running to give voters a choice.
