The issue for faculty is the school’s continuing partnership with the Education Achievement Authority. In December 2014, EMU Regents said they would withdraw from the EAA if a faculty review found the district had failed to improve.
Two months ago, when faculty said there was no improvement, Regents did not follow through on leaving the EAA.
Judith Kullberg is President of the Faculty Senate. She says EMU’s Board of Regents has violated the code of ethics by continuing a partnership with the Education Achievement Authority.
“The Board of Regents has a responsibility to consider the interests of all constituents in decision making. We don’t really see any evidence of that. They’ve consistently refused to listen to what all the stakeholders have to say about the EAA involvement.”
Kuhlberg says If the resolution is passed at a Wednesday's meeting of the Senate, it will be the first time in EMU’s history faculty has voted no confidence in the Board of Regents. The Board of Regents are scheduled to meet February 5.
