EMU Honors Leaders In Community Collaboaration

Organizations and individuals who've gone above and beyond to promote collaboration between Eastern Michigan University and the surrounding community were recognized at an awards luncheon Friday afternoon.

Awards were presented by EMU's Office of Academic Service-Learning and Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. 

Claudia Petrescu is campus director of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.  She says the honorees all have something in common.

"Community engagement," she says. "We all believe in the community, and giving back."

Nonprofit Leadership Alliance campus director Claudia Petrescu says community engagement is the common bond among all the honorees.

Among those honored at the luncheon: Ypsilanti Mayor Paul Schreiber, EMU's AMP! student art organization, student Daryl Holman, Jr., EMU professor Dr. Heather Neff and the organization Mentor2Youth.
