Eastern Michigan University's interim president Kim Schatzel's last day at work is Thursday. She has accepted the job as president of Towson University in Maryland.
EMU will host an ice cream social from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Student Center on campus as part of the farewell. The interim president says she suggested the social so she can interact with as many students and staff as possible before leaving.
Former EMU professor Dr. Donald Loppnow, who worked at the university for forty years before retiring in 2014, will take the interim position on Friday. The university continues to look for a permanent president.
