Eastern Michigan University's Special Education program has been helping to educate teachers and assisting children with disabilities for 100 years, and to mark the occasion, it's celebrating.
Over the next three days EMU will host lectures, offer tours and a display of historical archives on campus.
Nancy Halmhuber and Lynne Rockledge are both College of Education Special Education Emeritus faculty.
Halmhuber says EMU's program was the first of its kind in the country and perhaps the world. Rockledge says the program has played a major role in shaping special education across the country and it will remain a pioneer going forward.
