It's a rite of passage on Sunday as Eastern Michigan University holds its Spring Commencement.
2,242 students are eligible to participate in EMU'S graduation ceremony on the 24th. That includes 1,694 undergraduates, 528 graduate students, and 20 doctoral students.
State representative David Rutledge will be the guest speaker at both the morning and afternoon ceremonies. 109 students are graduating from Eastern's honor college and the University's "first" physician assistant class of 18 students will get their diplomas.
The University of Michigan holds its commencement the following Saturday, April 30th with former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg as commencement speaker.
