Governor Snyder Says Roads Proposal Is A Good Start, But Not Enough

Wikipedia

Governor Rick Snyder tells The Associated Press a proposal by Republican House leaders to spend $500 million annually on roads is a good first step toward much-needed changes, but says it's less than half of his spending target.

The Republican governor says a structural funding change to improve road maintenance could save lives and money. He calls the proposal "very constructive" and says it needs further discussion.
Republican House Speaker JaseBolger last week announced a roads funding plan of at least $450 million in the 2015 budget year and at least $500 million annually by 2018.
Bolger says he agrees with Snyder that Michigan roads need $1.2 billion annually, but the proposed changes are better than one-time funding allocations the Legislature has made.
