Graduation Fee Increased

By Andrew Cluley

Ypsilanti, MI – Graduation fees at Eastern Michigan University are increasing for the first time since 1988.
EMU's Board of Regents approved the increase yesterday, from 30 dollars for undergraduates and 35 dollars for graduate students, to a flat fee of 90 dollars.
University officials say the annual cost of commencement ceremonies and diplomas alone is around 100-thousand dollars, with total costs connected to graduations of 440-thousand dollars, making the increase necessary in the face of continued state budget cuts.
