Jail Expansion Plan Moves Forward

By Andrew Cluley

Ypsilanti, MI – Plans to expand the Washtenaw County jail moved ahead Wednesday night when county commissioners approved the space plan for the project. The plan would add 96 beds to the jail and upgrade the facility's infrastructure.
The plan also calls for the creation of a health services campus on Towner street in Ypsilanti, and moving employment training and community services to an expanded location on nearby Harriet street.
