Primary elections are less than two months away so candidates are getting busy knocking on doors and sharing their vision.  Ann Arbor voters also have several chances to see all four Democrats running for Mayor in the coming weeks.

With Mayor John Hieftje not seeking re-election City Council members Sabra Briere, Stephen Kunselman, Sally Hart Petersen, and Christopher Taylor all are vying for the job.

Saturday morning at 9:30 the Ann Arbor Dems are hosting a candidate forum at the Ann Arbor Community Center.

Later this month Literati Bookstore is holding a forum with particular attention being paid to issues important to the downtown and area businesses.

The Ann Arbor Ypsilanti Regional Chamber will also hold a mayoral forum this month.

July 15th several religious and human services organizations are holding a forum focused on affordable housing and homelessness.  This forum takes place at St. Clare of Assisi Episcopal Church and Temple Beth Emeth.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
