New Leader For Think Local First Of Washtenaw County

Think Local First
facebook.com

A local farmer and musician has taken over an organization designed to promote Washtenaw County businesses and institutions.

Chris Good thinks people have come to understand the buy local catch phrase. He's the new Executive Director of Think Local First of Washtenaw County and has been a supporter of the movement while working for Garden Works Organic Farm.

Good says it's time to work on specifics of how community members can help the local movement. "Giving those tools and breaking it down in ways that people can really feel invested in the health and sustainability of these local institutions is something that we're all excited about," Good says.

Good says Think Local First also needs to be involved in the community conversation about ending the trend of local Ann Arbor businesses closing.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
