The following are results of ballot proposals in Washtenaw County.
Not passed: The Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan proposed a 20-year, 1.2 mill tax for Washtenaw, Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. The money generated through the levy would be used for construction and operation of rapid transit, commuter rail service and other public transportation systems to better connect the region. The measure has passed in Wayne and Washtenaw County, but failed in Oakland and Macomb County. After hours of tabulation, the measure narrowly failed to pass.
There were two other countywide proposals decided in Washtenaw County. Voters have approved both a half-mill tax for the maintenance and reconstruction of roads, bike lanes and paths. Voters also approved a .10 mill tax to fund county veteran’s services.
Ann Arbor voters have approved a change in the length of terms for the Mayor and city council members. Those elected yesterday will serve two year terms. Those elected in November of 2017 will serve three year terms. All those elected in 2018 and beyond will serve four-year terms.
Voters in the Whitmore Lake school district have passed a "sinking fund" proposal. The proposal allows for a three-year, 1-mill property tax levy for building construction and facility repairs.
There were two proposals approved in Augusta Township. One provides for an environmental protection fund and the other allows for investment in fire, rescue, and emergency medical services operations and equipment.
In Ypsilanti Township, all four ballot issues before voters won approval.
