Pittsfield Township Again Able To Speak On Parks Millage

Feb 24, 2016

Pittsfield Township residents will vote on whether to renew an existing parks millage on March 8.

Pittsfield Township officials want to expand the city's parks and build more non-motorized pathways.  The community's parks mileage will do just that if voters agree on to renew it at the current rate.  Supervisor Mandy Grewal says recent state legislation blocking local officials from distributing information about the millage has made it extremely difficult for her office to communicate with voters.

"We would have liked to get much more information into the hands of our residents much more quickly.  We were constrained in our ability to do that.  We have tried to rectify that by taking on a couple of direct mailings.  Hopefully, that will help inform our residents."

Grewal says a court injunction has allowed her office to talk about millage publicly again for now.  Pittsfield Township voters will head to the polls on March 8.
