Despite potentially having enough signatures to place a proposal on the November ballot to legalize marijuana in Michigan, a local group will continue to gather support with an Ann Arbor event Wednesday evening.
The state requires 253,000 signatures. MI Legalize has over 300,000 and counting. The group plans to collect more at the event that starts at 6:00 PM at Dominick's Restaurant in Ann Arbor.
Board member Rick Thompson says they want more signatures than needed, in case some are found to be duplicates or invalid.
Former Detroit Red Wings player Darren McCarty, who supports the cause, will be at the event as well as former NHL player Larry DePalma.
