Roberta Gambarini: Keeping Jazz Legacy Alive At Detroit Jazz Festival

Aug 31, 2016

Earlier this Month vocalist Roberta Gambarini visited Detroit to be the judge for Detroit Jazz Festival Vocal Competition and appear at The Dirty Dog Jazz Café.  She also visited WEMU to share her Italian and international jazz life story as well as her admiration for jazz masters such as Hank Jones and Jimmy Heath.  She also brought her most recent CD “Connecting Spirits”.

A masterpiece of jazz including original lyrics to Jimmy Heath’s sensitive, swinging and challenging compositions.  As you’ll hear, Roberta handles the songs with ease and appropriate passion.  You’ll hear Roberta Gambarini celebrate NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Heath’s 90th birthday Monday, September 5th at 1:45 on the JP Morgan Chase Main Stage.  In the meantime, enjoy Roberta’s inspirational story and her supple voice negotiating jazz classics and new lyrics.
