As teachers request grants for projects from the Ann Arbor Educational Foundation, more and more of them are asking for help with special needs education.
The foundation awarded nearly $3,500 to PattengillElementary last year. That provided equipment for many students, including some suffering from attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Linh Song is the executive director of the foundation:
"Wiggle cushions, headphones, stand-up desks. It's equipment that allows kids to kind of focus in the classroom without being distracted."
As a result of the grant, students improved academically.
