The Washtenaw Metro SWAT team was called to Ypsilanti Township today after a gunman with mental health issues barricaded himself at his house.

Parents panicked this morning after the gunman barricaded himself at his home located on Allen Avenue near Michigan Avenue.  Several schools are located nearby and they remained on lock-down until the standoff ended.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's office says no shots were fired.  Commander Marlene Radzik told WEMU no one was hurt.  Members of the SWAT unit and the crisis negotiation team convinced the man to turn himself in.  He was taken to the hospital for mental health treatment.
