Thieves Steal Computers From Two Ann Arbor High Schools in Break-Ins

Andrew Cluley

Thieves stole computers and equipment out of the media centers at a pair of Ann Arbor High Schools Monday night.

Ann Arbor Public Schools officials say about 50 computers were damaged or stolen from Huron High School, while one computer was stolen and one damaged at A-2 Tech High.

Director of Communications Liz Margolis says the district is working closely with police.  She's not sure what a security camera at Huron High School captured and said no cameras caught anything at A-2 Tech.  Margolis says the thieves broke into the schools through windows that also need to be repaired.

The district is doing M-M-E testing Tuesday so only juniors are in the buildings and the media centers aren’t needed.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
