A Thousand Artists Are Ready For The Crowds As The 58th Ann Arbor Art Fair Gets Underway

The 58th annual Ann Arbor Art Fair opens today.  I visited with some of the artists as they were setting up and says everyone is excited to show and sell their work.

The temperature neared 90 degrees as more than 1000 artists from around the world set up their booths for what is actually four different art fairs held as one event on the streets of downtown Ann Arbor.

It is the first art fair for Time McClendon from Los Angeles showing his metal work and jewelry at the State Street Fair, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

"My wife found it. It's supposed to be one of the top shows, so we thought we'd come check it out."

And over near Liberty and Main, this artist came to Ann Arbor from even farther away!

"Oh yes, bonjour! My first name is Philippe. I'm from France. I've especially been coming to Ann Arbor for the last 25 years. Please come to see my work--one-of-kind and painted, pure silk. They are original, one-by-one. Each one is signed, and, as you can see, they are very colorful."

The fair runs today through Sunday 10am until 9pm today thru Saturday and noon until 6pm Sunday.
