Time Is Growing Short To Sign Up For Health Insurance

Healthcare.gov

The deadline to sign up is February 15, 2015.

With only one week left for open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act, Washtenaw County health has several locations around the county to help residents sign up.

The County estimates around 11,500 residents have already signed up this year, up 4,000 from last year. There are over 90 plans available this year. Washtenaw Health's Krista Nordberg says subsidies are available depending on household size and income.

Individuals making $46,000 or less per year can qualify for a subsidy to purchase private insurance. To view plans, visit www.healthcare.gov

Before joining the WEMU team in 2010, Daniel Long was a listener and active WEMU volunteer. He first came to the artform we call jazz through his first love: 20th century American Literature. It was through the depiction of a raucous Charlie Parker club date that gave Daniel a thirst to know more.
