The west side of downtown Ann Arbor may see a new trail, thanks to a group of University of Michigan graduate students.
For six years, the Allen Creek Greenway Conservancy has worked to create a trail linking west side parks with other important locations. Now, a group of 12 University of Michigan graduate students are helping to further the cause. These students have each studied the issue through a variety of disciplines the potential of the trail. Conservancy President, Bob Galardi, hope the work serves as a catapult for upgrades to the city's master plan. Galardi has hopes "that we can start working with the community on acquiring property, writing grants, and doing the things we need to do to create this trail."
In addition to recreational opportunities, the trail, running approximately over the Allen Creek area, coul address environmental and stormwater concerns as well.
The students, along with the conservancy and the city, hope to share the results of the project Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at 4 P.M. at the Ann Arbor District Library's downtown branch.
