If you ever wanted to serve on the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners, now may be your chance to get on the board quickly.

Following the resignation of 9th District County Commissioner Conan Smith, the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners is looking to appoint a replacement on September 7th.  Would-be county commissioners living on the west side of Ann Arbor in that district have until September 2nd to apply.

Several people have already applied for the position that would begin immediately.

However, Smith says if he doesn't get the job he's applying for as director of the county's director of the Office of Community and Economic Development, he hopes to return to his commission seat.  His name is on the November ballot for the county commission seat he just resigned from.

Anyone hoping to fill his seat should submit a resume and list of qualifications to the board by 5pm September 2nd.
