Top community and political leaders from across Washtenaw County gathered today to discuss economic inequalities in the county.
Organized by the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti regional chamber participants in "Impact 2015" got together to hold panel discussions on the economic challenges facing the county. Affordable housing and Improving public transportation were the main focuses and Amy Emberling Co-managing partner Zingermans bake house won the crowd over with this suggestion:
"After tossing around a number of ideas, they decided they simply need to pay people more," Emberling says.
Another panelist Tim Marshall, president and CEO of Bank of Ann Arbor said it's up to companies to emphasize to employees the need to volunteer, mentor and teach in the community.
